‘SHIFT DELETE’ FOR ‘SWACHCH MIND

‘SHIFT DELETE’ FOR ‘SWACHCH MIND

‘My system is slow’ is a common complaint. ‘Purge data’ is the common solution. Our mind is often compared to a computer. Just as computer is capable of storing mindboggling data, our mind is no less inferior. We find it impossible to rein in the continuous flow of sometimes positive and most of the times negative thoughts. We find ourselves in an eternal struggle to drive the negative thoughts out of our mind. We cannot control our mind. Constant purging of useless and harmful thoughts from our mind will create space for noble thoughts to enter our mind. Retaining noble thoughts is as challenging as blocking the bad ones.

We fall prey to biases, prejudices. We are a bundle of contradictions. We are in constant dilemma. Deep inside us we know what we are doing is wrong. Yet we end up doing precisely that. Why? The ego in us is a serious obstacle. It is very difficult to dislodge the ego. We often confuse ego with self-respect. The line dividing ego and self-respect is very thin. If there is a difference of opinion, none of us wants to budge. We turn every debate into ‘me versus him\her’ or ‘us versus them’, oblivious to the ‘real issue’. Yielding to someone is treated as failure. In this one-upmanship, differences escalate to dissent and thereon to dispute. Magnanimity takes back seat in this rat race for supremacy. Our mind becomes a victim of this ‘win-at-any-cost’ theory. We indulge in unethical practices. The polluted mind is contagious and epidemic. It spoils the moral fabric individually and slowly collectively.

A free mind is the first positive step we need to take in building healthy relationship. Let us diffuse the differences so that they don’t escalate to dissent and dispute. It is time we got rid of the junk to let noble thoughts enter our mind.
